Below, read more about Kyra's role at MusiCares, her passion for crafting meaningful stories, and her advice to those just starting out in content production.
What does your job entail?
I am the Content Producer at MusiCares, and that includes ideating, producing and editing content for web and social. This role didn't previously exist, and it was a little daunting at first trying to figure out how exactly to fill this space and be an asset to the team, but it has been rewarding watching the volume of content from MusiCares increase drastically over the years.
What led you to a career in Marketing & Content Production at MusiCares?
I worked as a Social Media Manager for a few years before joining MusiCares and wanted to stay within this field but pivot to doing more producing than posting. I love storytelling and being able to craft meaningful stories through the work I produce, so MusiCares' mission aligned with that passion.
What inspires you the most about working at MusiCares on the Marketing & Communications Team?
The team is so thoughtful about everything they do. I love working alongside people who genuinely want the work they do to leave a positive impact on the world around them.
Do you have any advice for individuals interested in a career in content production?
My advice would be to start where you are. Sometimes we think we need fancy equipment or a "big" job in order to make strides, but it was the work I did for fun that ultimately opened up the doors for me to be able to do this as a career. Whether you produce for yourself, for friends or a company, the basic skills are the same and the more you use them the sharper they become.
What are you most proud of in the last year at MusiCares? What are you looking forward to?
I'm proud of the way MusiCares raises the bar every year. We're very big on learning from the previous year and implementing those lessons to come back better and stronger the next one. When we take the time to reflect on the new KPIs each year and celebrate the rewards of all our hard work, it's a really beautiful feeling.
