MusiCares' tribute concert DVD honoring James Taylor to be released Oct. 3

Rhino Entertainment, in conjunction the MusiCares Foundation, will release James Taylor: A MusiCares Person Of The Year Tribute on DVD Oct. 3, with net proceeds from the sale and distribution benefiting MusiCares' health and human service addiction recovery programs.

Los Angeles, MusiCares brought together a group of legendary artists to pay tribute to James Taylor and his legendary catalog of songs at its annual Person of the Year gala. The event honored Taylor for his outstanding contributions to the world of music and for his exemplary philanthropic efforts.
The lineup features Taylor's friends and contemporaries performing timeless
Taylor classics. The highlights from this exclusive music industry evening that are featured on the DVD include the Dixie Chicks performing "Shower The People"; Jackson Browne, David Crosby and Sheryl Crow joining in for "Mexico"; Bruce Springsteen's rendition of "Millworker"; and Taylor himself singing "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)" and "Fire And Rain."
Taylor's impressive musical legacy and his sense of compassion toward humanity represent the artistic talents and social awareness that mark all MusiCares Person of the Year honorees. The annual event saluting that year's honoree takes place two nights before the GRAMMY Awards. Taylor joins an exemplary list of previously recognized artists that includes Tony Bennett, Bono, Natalie Cole, Phil Collins, David Crosby, Gloria Estefan, Billy Joel, Elton John, Quincy Jones, Luciano Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt, Paul Simon, Sting, Brian Wilson and Stevie Wonder.
Artistic success has allowed
Taylor to lend his voice and time to various important social causes. He has remained driven and passionate through his work protecting the environment via the Natural Resources Defense Council, where he is an active board member; he supports funding and research for children's health-related issues, such as juvenile diabetes; he campaigns for funding for various arts initiatives; and has called attention to the needs of those less fortunate.
