It’s time for the music community to come together for MusiCares’ sixth annual Wellness in Music Survey. Now live and open through April 24, the survey serves as a critical, year-over-year temperature check on the health, financial stability and overall well-being of music professionals across the United States. Grounded in the direct feedback of professional working musicians, the insights inform MusiCares’ programs and services and help build the future of the music community.
And that impact is real.
To date, MusiCares has provided more than $135 million in direct assistance to music professionals. Last year alone, the organization distributed over $17 million in support for year-round services and disaster relief efforts. This support included mental health care, addiction recovery services, emergency financial assistance, plus resources for touring professionals and those working behind the scenes. Funds also provided critical relief for over 3,200 music people impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, including immediate relief support for essential needs, access to preventive physical and mental health care, and long-term recovery efforts.
In 2025, a record of nearly 3,200 music professionals participated in the Wellness in Music Survey, offering a clearer picture of the pressures facing the industry. The findings reinforced what many already feel: financial instability, inconsistent access to health care, and the demands of touring continue to shape daily life for music people. The data also pointed to ongoing mental health challenges across the community, underscoring the need for continued, industry-specific support.
This is why participation matters.
The Wellness in Music Survey ensures that support is not built on assumptions, but on lived experiences. It identifies emerging needs, tracks progress over time and guides allocation of resources.
